Vision and Values

LiveWire blends electric simplicity with the soulful connection of riding, aiming to fully immerse riders in the present moment. With a focus on sustainability, performance, and innovation, LiveWire delivers distraction-free, thrilling urban adventures and beyond.

Digitalization of Connectivity

While LiveWire leads in electrifying motorcycles, it also needs a mobile app to elevate the riding experience. Apps have become essential in the automotive industry, connecting users with features like navigation, charging management, and remote controls. Competitors like Tesla and Polestar use apps to enhance usability and loyalty, setting the standard for the industry.

What Riders Value Most

Alex M

"Keeping my bike in top shape and optimizing performance makes riding more reliable and enjoyable."

Jordan T

"Being able to discover events and ride with others makes the experience way more meaningful."

Casey H

"I like having my range and route sorted ahead of time so I can focus on the road stress-free.”

These insights underscore what enhances the motorcycling experience.

Bridging Function and Connection

Riding is about more than the journey; it’s also about the people and memories. The app can benefit from a community feature that blends functionality with connection, enhancing the experience like no other EV app. By uniting riders for group rides, meetups, and shared moments, it will capture the heart of motorcycling and set the app apart.

The problem at hand is clear…

How can LiveWire riders seamlessly control their bikes, plan rides, and connect with a vibrant community, all in one app?
  1. How might we help riders stay on schedule while managing key bike info at a glance?

  2. How might we give weekend riders the tools to explore routes and stay informed throughout their trip?

  3. How might we foster connection among riders through shared events, routes, and community features?

Structuring the Solution

Taskflows and wireframes illustrate how the app guides users through key actions like scheduled charging and in-app navigation for a streamlined experience.

While the core taskflows stayed consistent, many visual and interaction details evolved through user feedback and iteration.

Designing With Feedback

Design Inspired by Nature and Wellness

The moodboard reflects LiveWire’s blend of Harley-Davidson’s legacy of raw technological power with sleek, futuristic design. It captures the precision and innovation of modern motorcycling, inspiring an app experience that’s intuitive, bold, and forward-thinking.

Style and Components

Drawing from the moodboard’s focus on modern performance, the design system embraces clean lines, bold contrast, and functional clarity. The typeface, color palette, and components were chosen to reflect a riding experience that feels confident, minimal, and intuitive built for both utility and personality.

Takeaways

Designing LiveWire meant finding the right balance between practical tools and community-driven features. Creating something that stands apart from existing EV apps was challenging but rewarding. With so many functions such as: remote control, navigation, social features, it required more research and time than usual to shape each flow.

If I had more time, I’d explore deeper social integration and how that could help riders connect, stay engaged, and feel more excited about switching to EV.
